Hello everyone,

Happy Monday!

I am so excited to share with you that my first ebook has officially been published and is now online!  Ahhhhh (Imagine me jumping for joy!)!

I receive numerous messages from people every day who are suffering from Lyme Disease and who want to know how I improved my health.  So, I thought that I would put my entire journey into one, short ebook.  It truly makes me sad that many people suffer from this disease and have no one to turn to.  I truly hope that I can help people through my story and through my failed attempts to heal.

Note: this ebook is not just for those who are suffering from Lyme.  It may be beneficial for anyone with a chronic illness, or even for those who just want to live a healthier life.

My Lyme Disease Treatment (part 2)

Treating Lyme Disease can often be a complicated and discouraging process.  As you may have read in My Lyme Disease Treatment (part 1), I tried many different methods, all while depleting my savings account and finding little relief.  However, when I discovered Medical Medium’s protocols, things finally began to shift.

I started drinking celery juice every morning, removed gluten from my diet, and added in many of his “Life Changing Foods”.  I ultimately found that switching to a completely vegan diet eliminated most of my nagging symptoms.  My digestion and energy improved and my muscle pain was almost nonexistent.

I continued to experiment and to listen to my body.  In addition, I found some holistic remedies that really helped.  I do not know the science behind all of these but I am guessing that they all decreased the inflammation in my body and allowed it to start healing.  These are all things that I still do now, three years after my diagnosis.

Meditation:  meditation every night as well as throughout the day when I am feeling anxious.

Daily Movement:  most days I try to get in a vigorous workout, but some days my body only wants to walk or to do Yoga.

Turning the Wireless Router and All Devices off Before Bed: the lack of electronic waves going through our house at night has improved my sleep.

Eliminating Toxins: we have tried to eliminate as many toxins as possible throughout our house.  This includes buying organic fruit and vegetables, using non toxic and non fragrant cosmetics/beauty products, not using scented dryer sheets or laundry detergent and only using essential oils to make our house smell good (artificial fragrances and perfumes can wreak havoc on our bodies, even without Lyme Disease.  I will cover this in a future blog).

Sticking to a Whole Foods Plant Based Diet: okay, this one isn’t always!  But I really try my best to stick with whole plant based foods including legumes, fruits, veggies, and healthy fats.  I stay away from gluten and processed foods, as much as possible.  It is when I do this that I feel my best.

I realize that not everything works for every person.  With Lyme, the symptoms and best treatment will vary from person to person.  However, these holistic remedies worked best for healing my illness.  And I truly believe that even if a person isn’t sick, that he or she can benefit from implementing the above tools.  Give them a try and let me know how they work for you ❤

My Lyme Disease Journey (On My 3 Year Anniversary)

Hello everyone, I hope that you had an amazing weekend!  I cannot believe that it is Monday again and how fast time flies.

This morning I woke up and realized that today marks three years since I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease.  This day and the three years since have been kind of a roller coaster but I wouldn’t change any part of it.

When I got out of bed this morning, I felt incredibly grateful.  I slept through the night, was able to stand up without muscle pain, and could walk into the other room without extreme fatigue.  These were all things that I couldn’t do three years ago.  I was also extremely confused, angry and scared when I first got my diagnosis.

I remember the phone call from my doctor like it was yesterday.  We had been through months of various tests without any leads: blood, ultrasounds, urine, physical examinations.  After months of frustration (and years of pain!) my doctor said to me, “I don’t think you have it, but let’s test you for Lyme just incase.”  When he called on October 29, 2015 he was elated that we had finally found something!  He called it “acute Lyme” and thought it would be easy to treat.  It would require just one, maybe two, rounds of antibiotics and I would be good to go.

Unfortunately, this was not the case.  After a few rounds of antibiotics, I still had leg pain, digestive distress, severe fatigue, insomnia, anxiety and brain fog.  We tested my blood once more and the results for Lyme actually came back negative.  My doctor said this was great but that I would probably have symptoms for the remainder of my life.  I was extremely upset and discouraged.  I tried to shrug it off and ignore the pain but it only increased and it was becoming difficult to live my normal life (and to keep teaching fitness classes every day!).  Plus, I was extremely discouraged and lonely.  I would lay in bed crying every night.  Why did this happen to me? And how could one little tick change my whole life????

Luckily, I didn’t have to feel so alone.  I was able to find a vast online community who offered suggestions and support.   In addition, I met a woman in our neighborhood who had been struggling with Lyme for years.  She was able to offer some advice for treatment and we decided to start seeing the doctor that helped her cure her illness.  For the first time in a long time, I was hopeful for a positive outcome……

More tomorrow on how I treated Lyme Disease. Stay tuned ❤

From Lyme Disease to Animal Activist

On October 29, 2015, I got one of the worst calls that I have ever received.  It was from my doctor and he said that my “Lyme disease diagnosis was positive”.  He went on to explain that although I had “acute Lyme”, I would most likely have ongoing symptoms for the rest of my life.

At this period of my life, I was in horrible pain. I had extreme fatigue, severe muscle cramping (imagine teaching fitness classes when you can barely feel your legs!), tingling in my extremities, brain fog, depression and crippling digestive issues.  I would lay in bed every night and cry.  I had no idea why this was happening to me and couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life in this immense pain.  I was incredibly scared, frustrated and felt completely alone.

Luckily, in this day of age there is the Internet.  I was able to find a Lyme community and friends who helped me through the misery and also found solace in those who had recovered.  There was hope!  Fortunately, three years later I am mostly symptom free and am extremely grateful for my recovery.

So, how did someone with a debilitating illness go from being stuck in bed to becoming an animal activist???

The answer is so simple:  when you have experienced suffering, pain, fear and loneliness, you do not wish that on any other sentient being!  You can watch a graphic video of an animal at a slaughterhouse and completely empathize with them and the feeling of not wanting to lose your life.  I can feel it in my bones and can feel the fire in my heart, trying to come up with strategies to make it stop!  You see, animals know exactly what is going to happen to them.  Most are sick, starving and have been tortured up until their death.  They are scared and cannot make it stop…and they cannot turn to the Internet like I did to get support.

Today, I am a Lyme warrior and an animal rights activist.  I spend my weekends volunteering for our local chapter of Anonymous for the Voiceless (that I am a proud organizer of).  I spend time at local sanctuaries and try to educate the public daily about the horrors of the animal agriculture industry.

And today, I am grateful for my Lyme disease diagnosis.  Who knows?  If I hadn’t suffered the way I did, would I still have the desire to fight for the animals?  I will never know but I truly think that everything happens for a reason.  Maybe my reason for Lyme was to find my true passion in life as an animal activist.

My Lyme Disease Diet

Hello everyone,

Two and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Today I have little to no symptoms and completely contribute it to my diet and lifestyle choices. To honor Lyme Disease Awareness Month, I have made a video discussing my Lyme Disease Diet. Please share it with anyone who may benefit, who has a chronic illness or just wants to become more healthy. Thank you ❤

Lyme Disease Anniversary and My New, Favorite Book

Hello all,

I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone by and I realized just recently that we passed my Lyme Disease Anniversary!!!

October marked two years since I was first diagnosed with Lyme and so much has changed since then.  I created a quick video that will give you an update on my current Lyme Disease symptoms and discusses my treatment.  In addition, it discusses my new, favorite book: Medical Medium Thyroid Healing.   These two things may not seem related but it’ll make sense in this video.

Also, if you are currently suffering from Lyme, Hashimoto’s, Hypothyroidism, Fibromyalgia, Graves’, Epstein-Barr or other illnesses, this may be the video for you.  It is amazing how all of these conditions may be related and are easily treatable (according to Medical Medium).

Please, please, please share with family and friends who may be dealing with these conditions and thank you for taking time to watch my video :).
