The Lyme Interview (part 2)

Hello lovelies,

As promised, here is the second half of the Lyme interview with Victoria from Lemons ‘N Lyme.

I love this half because you see a much more vulnerable side of Victoria as she discusses the best and worst parts of having this illness.  In addition, she explains how you can prevent getting Lyme Disease.  This is a good one to watch before those warm, tick-infested, summer months.

I hope that you enjoy it!

The Happy Healin’ Vegan

Hello everyone,

I hope that you are having the most gorgeous day 🙂  I wanted to share a new, exciting venture that I am going on….

A few months ago I started feeling unsettled.  Although I absolutely love my career and clients, I felt like there was something more that I needed to be doing.  As someone who completely believes that there is a power greater than us (I’ll refer to it as the Universe, but it can be whatever you believe in), I started asking for help.  I journaled, mediated and tried to surrender my career to the Universal energy.  Then one night when I was taking a shower, because all of my answers come to me in the shower, it came to me….

I will become…….The Happy Healin’ Vegan!!!  And just like that I was flooded with purpose, emotions and tears of joy.

You see, two of the worst (and somehow most inspirational) days of my life took place over the previous year:  the day that I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and the day that I lost my dog (and best friend).  Throughout my Lyme journey I have healed my body with proper nutrition, rest, meditation and a positive outlook.  With healing the grief and sadness of my lost pet, I have realized my true aching to help and rescue animals.  In addition, I have gone back to my vegan roots.  I will never aide in the suffering of another animal after watching my boy struggle to breathe.

I am extremely passionate about spreading my message, helping others heal from illness, and to educate the world about animal cruelty and how we can make a difference.  But I need your help…..

With any new idea, there are so many different ways of approaching it.  And in the world of social media, there are only so many things that you can do at one time.  I would love to hear from you to see what your needs are.  Which do you need help with: fitness, nutrition, healing through food, meditation, becoming more happy, vegan recipes, or anything else?  I am here to help you 🙂  In addition, would you rather that I create a separate website for this cause?

Thank you so much for all of your direction.  I am truly excited to see where this new purpose takes me 🙂

The Lyme Interview (part 1)

Hello wonderful people,

I hope that everyone is enjoying this gorgeous day!!!

I am so excited to share a collaboration that I have just finished with Victoria from Lemons ‘N Lyme.  When I was first diagnosed with Lyme, Victoria was one of the first people I met.  She is one of the most genuine people in our community  and her vast knowledge of treatments and Lyme is amazing!  I immediately felt comforted by her story……not to mention that her blog is pretty phenomenal with the delicious recipes for every diet type (vegan, Paleo, you name it!).

Here is the beginning of her story including her symptoms, her treatments, diet, detox and so much more.  We will release part 2 of the interview next week.

I hope that you enjoy it and that just maybe you will learn something new about Lyme Disease.

Paying it Forward-Discovering New Blogs

images-1As a new blogger, I was thrilled to be nominated for a Liebster award             by Meghan of ThriveSensibly. I absolutely love her blog and really hope that you will check it out.  Not only is her writing style relaxed and fun (you feel like you are having a conversation with her), but she has some great “sensible” tips on there for everything health and fitness related.  You will enjoy it! Thank you Meghan for the nomination!

If you’re not familiar with the award (as a newbie, I certainly wasn’t), it’s a fun way to recognize new bloggers and get to know them in the process. You can read more about the award here.

  1.  I can stick my tongue up my nose 🙂
  2. I have an extreme phobia of snakes!
  3. My husband and I went to the same high school.  He was quarterback, I was cheerleading captain and we never talked until college.
  4. I have two dogs that I adore.  We are those crazy people who treat them like they are our children…but until we have kids, they kind of are.
  5. I was honored enough to be chosen to dance in the Super Bowl XXXVII pregame and half time shows.
  6. I was originally a Liberal Studies major in college.  I always thought that I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher.  Then I found dance….
  7. I am a huge animal lover!  I cannot read stories on the Internet regarding animals being harmed or see a dead animal on the side of the road.  It makes me extremely sad.  I am still getting over Hambre, the gorilla who was recently killed.
  8. I have had body image/Orthorexia issues for most of my adult life.
  9. I have one giant kidney (well, two kidneys that are connected).
  10. I am allergic to pineapple and cats.

  3. How do you spend your time on weekends? I love the weekends with my small family: husband and our dogs.  We normally spend it at the beach, running errands, going to yummy restaurants (pick up, of course!), Starbucks, working out and with family.  The little things make me happy!
  4. Would you rather travel into the past or future? Definitely the past.  I don’t want to ruin any surprises that the future holds 🙂
  5. What’s your favorite thing about blogging? I love that there is no filter.  I can write whatever and whenever I want to.  I also love sharing my stories.  I always hope that I can help even one person by sharing my journey.  Plus, it is cathartic.
  6. What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done? I am not much of an adventure-seeker, but this is one thing that I would like to change…..I guess it would have to be when I spontaneously went on a trip to Hawaii and flew there by myself (on my first flight ever!).
  7. Describe your dream in one word. Freedom.
  8. If you could be transported anywhere instantly, where would it be? Colorado.  I grew up there and terribly miss the fresh air, the pine trees and the beauty.

  10. If you had one day all to yourself, how would you spend it? I would sleep in, have a luxurious breakfast outside, go for a hike by the ocean, meet a friend for lunch, read a good book with my feet in the sand, and snuggle with my husband and puppies.  I am a simple girl 🙂
  11. What one piece of advice would you give your 5-year-old self? To live every day to the fullest, to enjoy the little things, to worry less, to laugh more, to dance, to eat good food and to love every inch of your body.

Lyme Disease Symptoms (from the Faces of Lyme)

May was Lyme Disease Awareness Month and I had such a wonderful time getting to know the warriors in our community.  I was lucky enough to work with them on this video and to hear some of their stories.  Please take a few minutes to watch.  You never know, maybe it’ll help save a life someday 🙂
